Add professional golfers to the growing list of people in sports that have been linked over the last few months to sexual misconduct with underage individuals. Former Champions Tour player Steve Thomas was part of a sexual sting operation by the Osceola CountySheriff'sOffice that caught 40 people that had been luring minors to a certain location with the intent to have sex with them.
According to GolfTalkCentral, the Sheriff's Office had Thomas, now 55, listed as a "professional golfer," and the mugshot confirms that it was the man you see in the above picture, playing in the 2009 Greater Hickory Classic.
The story is as icky as you'd expect, and nothing else has been released at this time about Thomas, but the former PGA Tour and Champions Tour player had combined to play in 78 events over his career, with two top-10s when he moved up with the seniors.
When more breaks on this, we will report it, but that is the story we really wish we didn't have to report about an issue that makes everyone just shake their heads in unison.
