Arum Talks Pacquiao, Obama, Mosley and Pavlik

Top Rank Promotions CEO, Bob Arum, spoke to FanHouse in this Q&A concerning the potential for former WBC and WBO middleweight (160 pounds) champion, Kelly Pavlik, to fight on the May 7 under card of the Showtime televised main event featuring eight-division titlist Manny Pacquiao against three-division, five-time champion, Shane Mosley, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Arum also shed light on the media tour for Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 knockouts) and Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KOs), whose final stop will be on Feb. 15 in Washington, D.C., that may allow Pacquiao to meet president Barack Obama.

A 32-year-old congressman in the Sarangani Province of his native Philippines, Pacquiao, with Mosley, will begin a press tour on Thursday, Feb. 10 in Los Angeles, followed by stops in Las Vegas on Saturday, Feb. 12, New York on Monday, Feb. 14, and, Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Feb. 15.

Two weeks prior to earning his WBC belt with an HBO televised, Nov. 13 unanimous decision over former titlist Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27 KOs) at Cowboys Stadium, Pacquiao attended an October rally for United States Senator Harry Reid, D-Nevada, whom he informed of his desire to meet Obama.

A 28-year-old resident of Youngstown, Ohio, Pavlik (36-2, 32 knockouts) was released on Jan. 4 from the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., after having been admitted for an alcohol problem on Nov. 4.
