That car above is the ride that Juan Pablo Montoya, Jamie McMurray, Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon would later pilot to a second-place finish in this past weekend's Rolex 24 racing. Nice, right? Now, take a look at the same car a few hours later, during the actual race:
Hmm. What's different? What could it be?
If you can't see it -- first off, seek help. Second, take a look at the nose. That's the third nose that the team had to bolt onto the car. It's white because his team didn't expect to have to use it, but the noses were getting bashed in over and over by one driver's aggressive techniques. And who caused this front-end carnage?
"Me?" asked Juan Pablo Montoya, responding to an inquiry of whether he got a little too frisky out there on the track. "I'm never aggressive. I don't even know what you're talking about." And if you believe that ...
As NASCAR.com reported, Montoya noted that the overnight portion of the race demands aggressiveness, at least in his mind, and he kept banging away at various cars, trying to get an edge. Finally, his team had had enough.
"[T]hey came on the radio and said, 'Whatever you do, do not touch him.' When they say that, you [say], 'Yes, sir.' "
You gotta love that attitude. Well, from a distance, at least.
