Lazio use foundation for fan shot by police as shirt sponsor

Lazio use foundation for fan shot by police as shirt sponsor

In the absence of of a paying shirt sponsor this season, Lazio have opted to fill the blank space on their chests with the logo of the Fondazione Gabriele Sandri -- the DJ and Lazio supporter from Rome who was shot dead by a police officer during a violent clash between Lazio fans and Juventus fans in 2007. The 26-year-old Sandri was sitting in a car when the bullet hit him in the neck.

Parma and Triestina will also wear the non-profit organization's logo in different capacities, along with that of the foundation established for Parma fan Matteo Bagnaresi, who was killed in 2008.

And so the countdown until these charitable gestures are replaced by an ad for the Qatar Foundation begins.
