Kim Clijsters Wins WTA Player of the Year Award

Kim Clijsters WTA Player of the YearKim Clijsters finished the year a champion on the court, and has been awarded for her hard work in 2010.

For the second time in her career, Clijsters won the WTA's player of the year award. The 27-year-old Belgian also won the award in 2005, when she claimed her first of three U.S. Open championships.

After a brief retirement from the sport in May of 2007, Clijsters came back in 2009 and later won her second U.S. Open. In her first full season back on tour in 2010, Clijsters won her third U.S. Open and finished the year with five titles.

She closed the year ranked No. 3 and defeated year-end No. 1, Caroline Wozniacki, for the year-end crown at the WTA Championships in Doha this October. Aside from her titles in Flushing Meadows and Doha, she won tournaments in Brisbane, Miami and Cincinnati.
