It's official. We've been speculating for some time know whether or not Brandon Roy was going to go ahead and have surgery on his ailing knee. Well, the Blazers reported on Thursday night that Roy is not only going to have surgery on his left knee but he is going to have arthroscopic surgery on both knees. At this point, Roy has missed nearly as many games (16) as he's played in (23). He's only averaging 16.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists. How's that second-round draft pick working out for you?
If you play in a daily-league format you should probably go ahead and drop Roy. There is no specific timetable for his return, which leads me to believe that we won't be seeing him any time before March -- at the earliest.
In roto leagues where you have a games-played cap you could hold onto Roy, if you have the bench space. You never know, he may try to return for the final month of the season. It's a gamble, but with the cap on your side it might be worth holding onto him.
