Costume confusion ends in Nittany Lion-on-Nittany Lion violence

The first rule of dressing up for Halloween: Any costume that requires an explanation is a bad costume. Just in case you ever happen to find yourself en route to a Penn State game for the holiday, the local Centre Daily Times reminds you to choose a get-up that leaves no doubt whatsoever where your allegiances lie, lest there be any … confusion:

A Penn State fan dressed in a blue and yellow Halloween costume sustained a possible broken nose Saturday at 9:25 p.m. after he was assaulted by four unknown Penn State fans at Beaver Stadium, police said.

The men attacked, police said, because they thought the victim was a University of Michigan fan.

The victim was treated and released from a nearby hospital. No arrests were reported in the incident.

For the record, Michigan fans can spend a perfectly pleasant football weekend in Happy Valley while encountering steer clear at all costs. (And if you're Justin Boren, well, you don't even want to know what might happen.)
