Noah Cottrill Leaves West Virginia Without Ever Playing a Game

Noah Cottrill has left West Virginia, the school announced Friday.

According to a school spokesman, Cottrill, the 2010 West Virginia high school state player of the year, withdrew from classes. The 6-foot-1 freshman's decision likely means an end to a turbulent though brief tenure at West Virginia. Cottrill began his West Virginia career by missing the first week of practice in October, before joining the team the second week. Shortly thereafter, on Oct. 29, he was suspended indefinitely by coach Bob Huggins for what he called conduct "unbecoming of a Mountaineer" in a statement.

Cottrill never again played or practiced with the team.

Huggins did not address the player's status during the season and no further details were provided.

West Virginia (11-4) hosts Purdue Sunday.
