The season is underway, and with it a different venue every week. Our weekly cheat sheet will give you all the info you need to know to plan your viewing, fantasy picks and bar bets. Enjoy, and if there's a category you'd like to see added, hit us up at jay.busbee@yahoo.com. We're here to serve, after all.
History: The Classic is now an oddity, a five-round tournament where rounds with preening celebrities count toward the actual PGA Tour money list. No wonder the big names steer clear of this one.
The TV: Golf Channel across the board: 3-6 p.m. ET Wednesday-Friday; 4-7 p.m. ET Saturday-Sunday.
The courses: Yet another quirk of the Hope is that it's played at four different courses: PGA West, the Palmer Private Course, SilverRock and La Quinta. Too much info to go through in this space, but the Kodak Challenge hole is the 170-yard par-3 17th at the Palmer.
The field: It's a fair-to-middling field this time around, with the majority of the world's golf attention focused half a planet away in Abu Dhabi. But there are some fine names here, like the gentlemen listed below as well as Boo Weekley, Bill Haas, Steve Marino and Boom Baby himself, Jeff Overton. As for the celebrities? Everybody from Alice Cooper to Dr. J to Bo Jackson to Greg Maddux. Nice!
The fantasy picks: Matt Kuchar (A-list starter), Chad Campbell and Bubba Watson (B-list), Mike Weir (C-list).
The relevant video: This is a tournament unlike any other, but not in that way. Relive some celeb moments as well as David Duval's stunning 59 in 1999:
Enjoy the tournament, everybody! Make your picks below!
