The Giants gave streamer Madison Bumgarner tons of runs support on Thursday -- not that he needed it. The rookie spun seven excellent innings of shutout ball into our sixth win of the month, striking out nine batters while walking one. Jhoulys Chacin has a great chance of giving us a third consecutive win on Friday.Bud Norris has rattled off wins in three straight decisions, allowing a total of four runs in 20 innings while doing so. He hasn't been pitching particularly great in those starts, surrendering at least four free passes in each, but we know he's going to give our team plenty of strikeouts as well, as he's averaging over one K per inning this season.
The main appeal to Norris for Saturday's pick is his opponent, the Pirates. One of my favorite teams on which to pick, Pittsburgh hasn't been a good offensive team all season, though their bats are starting to pick up over the last week. The last time Norris faced this team, he racked up 14 Ks in seven innings en route to a 3-2 win. For his career, he's punched out 25 Pirates in 17.2 innings. I'm in.
