Nurnberg defender Javier Pinola did a vile, vile thing during his side's 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich on Sunday when he spat on Bastian Schweinsteiger. The two had a few scuffles earlier in the match and Schweinsteiger may have thrown an elbow at the Argentine, so he responded by acting like an animal (video of the loogie launch with NSFW soundtrack here).
The officials didn't see the incident when it happened, but upon viewing replays after the match, Franz Beckenbauer announced on Sky that "from me, Pinola would get a kick that would make him fly out of the stadium."
Bild reports that, according to Bayern Munich, Pinola realized his wrongdoing on Monday and called Schweinsteiger to apologize, saying:
"I am ashamed. I'm terribly sorry. It should not have happened."
Schweinstegier then accepted his apology and everyone lived happily ever after.
