Who's Got Next?: Erick Dampier Adds Minimal Fantasy Value

Now that Erick Dampier has completed his first practice with the Miami Heat there's no turning back. He's in Miami and all we need to do now is decide whether or not he's worth the roster space for your fantasy team.

Since 2006-07 Dampier has been consistent in his value. In each season he's played just under 25 minutes per game, made over 60 percent of his field goals, rebounded the ball at 7.1-7.5 times per game, stole exactly 0.3 balls per, and blocked 1.1-1.4 balls per game. That was, when he was healthy.

The best case scenario for Damps is to see him hit 60-plus percent of his field goals, pull in 6-7 boards per game, block 1.5 shots, and score about 6-7 points. At least that's what it seems to me. He's never been one to play more than 25 minutes per game, so don't expect him to come in and log 30-plus minutes. It won't happen. That's not to say that he doesn't fill a role in Miami or that what he does provide in terms of numbers won't have some sort of impact on the fantasy game. It's just not going to excite me to see him sitting on the waiver wires.
