Fantasy Spin: Joe Johnson (Elbow) to Miss Next 4-6 Weeks

In year's past losing Joe Johnson for 4-6 weeks to an elbow injury would have been a tough blow on fantasy owners. This season, however, it's more manageable.

Johnson, typically among the top players in the game, is currently ranked as the 85th most valuable player in the fantasy game, per Yahoo! He is averaging 17.1 points per game, his lowest total in six seasons, and shooting an lowly 40.9 percent from the floor and 25.5 percent from beyond the arc. His 3-point shooting is well-below his career average of 1.5 treys per game and for the first time since the 2002-03 season he is stealing fewer than one ball per game.

You don't want to do anything drastic with Johnson like, say, drop him. But you are going to have to sit on the injury and wait for him to return from his elbow injury sometime after the new year.

Jamal Crawford obviously stands to see a nice increase in value. He'll still remain as the team's 6th man coming off the bench, and he is only available in about 14 percent of leagues right now, so we need not waste our time rushing to the wires looking to reap the rewards of the Johnson injury with Crawford.
