For the second time this year, Schalke's Veltins-Arena could not withstand the cruel power of heavy snow, resulting in massive holes in the stadium's roof. The good news is that this time the Christmas Eve storm did its damage earlier on in the Bundesliga's winter break.
The bad news is that the damage has forced the cancellation of the World Biathlon Challenge, which was to start on Dec. 30. The other good news is that the pitch had already been replaced with snow for the biathlon...
The other bad news, however, is that there is no awesome video of the collapse like there was when it happened to the Metrodome. Oh, and that the collapse caused about €100,000 worth of damage to the roof and the seats that took the brunt of snow's force.
