Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum told FanHouse Tuesday afternoon that Jose Pinzon has replaced Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Saturday night's super middleweight (168 pounds) fight against junior middleweight (154 pounds) Pawel Wolak, with Chavez having woken up with "a 103-degree fever," said Arum.As a result, the new main event will be WBA interim super flyweight (115 pounds) titlist Nonito Donaire (24-1, 16 knockouts) of the Philippines fighting against Ukrainian WBA bantamweight champion Voldymyr Sydorenko (22-2-2, seven KOs) at The Pond in Anaheim, Calif.
Another fight on the card features a lightweight (135 pounds) clash between WBC champion Humberto Soto (53-7-2, 32 KOs) and Urbano Antillon (28-1, 20 KOs), the winner of which meets rising star Brandon Rios (26-0-1, 19 KOs) sometime next year.
"Julio Cesar Chavez woke up with a 103-degree fever, so they're getting him to a doctor, but he's out. The fever keeps coming back and so forth, so we've got to get him cured, so he's out," said Arum. "We're replacing him with Jose Pinzon from Mexico to fight Wolak. Donaire will now be the main event."
